Mirror stainless steel MIYIWTS is a commissioned metal sculpture that is finally installed in New Westminster.

It is also named "water's Edge" which is comes from it's overall shape design. The whole sculpture is 5 meters high, and made of stainless steel 316L as the exterior surface panel and stainless steel 304 as the interior structure. Most of the outer effect is mirror polished and the middle of the whole work is concave, and the surface has a percussive texture, while this part has a gold leaf foil attached.

The artist who designed the sculpture said "with this sculpture, I incorporate elements that belong to Coast Salish people. The design of the inner recessions of the work, highlighted in gold leaf, represents one of the four main forms of Salish design. I have 'deconstructed' these forms to mimic the organic shape of the ravine and to represent the Indigenous families that have thrived in these lands. My goal is to create a piece that has flow, geometry, depth, line, and texture, providing an opportunity for new understandings.

The sculpture is rest at the top of a cut-out design of the Coast Salish eye. This symbolizes that we are always being watched over by our ancestors. The material I have chosen is stainless steel to represent water. The material is cool in temperature and reflective like the water's surface when polished. The surface will pick up a myriad of hues from the sky and surrounding nature. In contrast, the warmth of the gold moves your eye through the work in one continuous motion."
